The MDE, through the Office of Early Childhood a is offering a free full-day training titled Little Learners, Little Hands: Supporting Fine Motor Development. This full-day training will provide Early Childhood Professionals with critical strategies and resources to support fine motor development in early childhood classrooms. Topics to be covered are: Fine Motor related standards, stages of fine motor development, stages of pre-writing skills and implementing hands-on Early Childhood Developmentally Appropriate Practices in the Pre-k classroom. This training is encouraged for all administrators, directors, leaders, and teachers of Pre-K classrooms. SEMIs and contact hours are offered at no cost and CEUs (checks or credit/debit cards only) will be available for purchase.

Each session can accommodate up to 50 participants. Registrants will need to verify that they are registering for the correct location.Contact Jayme Jones at jajones@mdek12.org if there are questions about registration.

The MDE, through the Office of Early Childhood a is offering a free full- training titled Early Learning Guidelines and Standards. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge needed to effectively implement developmentally appropriate practices in the early childhood classroom. The training will go through the Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines and will offer the participants an overview of how the Mississippi Early Learning Standards can be implemented by offering hands-on activities in a developmentally appropriate Pre-K classroom. This training is offered to directors, administrators or teachers of a Pre-K classroom. SEMIs and contact hours are offered at no cost and CEUs will be available for purchase (checks or credit/debit cards only).

The MDE, through the Office of Early Childhood, is offering the first in a series of full-day trainings titled Introduction to the Pre-K CLASS Tool. The Pre-K Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) is a tool used by the MDE to evaluate the effectiveness of teacher-child interactions in pre-kindergarten classrooms as a part of school monitoring visits. This full-day training will give participants an overview of the tool. Participants will gain a beginning knowledge of effective teacher-child interactions and how the CLASS Tool assesses them. This training is NOT available to individuals who have previously completed the Introduction to Pre-K CLASS Tool training. This training series is available to teachers and assistants currently teaching in a Pre-K classroom or administrators of Pre-K classrooms. This training series is intended for participants to take all three (3) sessions to gain comprehensive knowledge needed to effectively implement developmentally appropriate practices in the early childhood classroom. CEUs will be available for purchase. SEMIs are offered at no cost. More
